Day +10: Neutrophils!!

The cavalry are definitely on the way. From being completely undetectable there are now neutrophils present in my blood again. The current figure is 0.09. To put this in context it needs to be above 1 for me to be allowed home as this is deemed a safe amount. So what happens is we wait for that to happen and then withdraw the growth factor I've been getting to stimulate them just to check I can keep up production without any extra help. Once that is confirmed I can go home! What's encouraging is that even though my haemoglobin has dropped under 10 it hasn't crashed completely which suggests that my bone marrow has definitely started to work again.

I'm generally feeling a lot better today and have asked them to remove the pump that's feeding me constant anti-sickness meds. I'm also aiming to drink enough today to remove the need for i/v fluids. I don't want there to be any reason for them to delay my departure.

On reading my comments it became clear that kitten kong had taken a few drams too many and that Lynn and Dave may have joined him. AMIL and AFIL provided an answer as to what the A stands for....I of course have my own version but I feel it would be impolite to share it here. Welcome to Rob Jacq Lauren and Sarah and Max in Bonnie Scotland. I'm glad my posting earlier in the day fits in with your Swiss schedule a little better, Chris! When are you taking up Alpine horn blowing?

No visit from the kids today as Honor has a bit of a cold and it's just not worth the risk, especially as I might only be a few days away from home anyway.

Yes I approve of the new punctual healthy Rory. The late posts were interfering with my yodeling & fondue evenings for expats. Something for you to look forward to once you are healthy enough to visit.

All good news. Keep it coming.

Love Chris & Sandra

Hi Rory,
Great to hear that the troopers are marching to the battle front-wonderful. By the time the garden needs doing will be fighting fit and be able to strop and sort the world out. The beers will also be available down in Devon, and perhaps we can put you in the Oyster Shack !!!

It will be amazing to hear your interpretation of the 'A'.

Seriously Amil and I are delighted at the news.

Rock on

Afil

I have to ask - does one yodel then fondue or fondue then yodel? Either way, it all strikes me as rather cuckoo.

I hope the prospect won't frighten the Neutrophils and that your recovery will continue apace.

Love, Christine

Great to hear of the progress, sorry about the incoherent blogging last night, you may like to know that we were not left unscathed by our encounter with Mr Taliska. As a foot note to some of your other bloggers. You may not remember the details but in epiosode 3 of the Goodies (Kitten Kong we have the DVD), the problems all started when Graham accidently fed Kitty a growth factor. Are we the only ones to notice this strange coincidence.....Rory try and get off that stuff as soon as you can...because we already know where it will end! We always said that the Goodies are modern day prophets.
Love Lynn and Dave

Hi Rory

It is great to hear the positive news and that you might be only a few days away from home!!

I hope tomorrow brings further news of the ever increasing population of neutrophils.

Hope to see you very soon

Lots of love

Hi Rory, what a shame the kids didn't make it today but as you say better safe than sorry we don't want anything hampering your discharge. Having been released from the tower it seems a bit mean to put you in the Oyster Shack but maybe the Oyster Shack is good? perhaps the double A's will let us know. Keep those Neutrophils coming. Love Dad and Mum

Hello Rory
Oyster Shack sounds good to me knowing how you love your food. I, however, might have put you in the Shod following your A comments - you would feel 'at home' there! Actually, I am going to be nice to you today and rename you ASIL - it's all in the pronunciation but the A is for AWESOME. You have progressed magnificently and good wishes come from Peter/Alice and Sheila/John from Scotland and also from Anna/Chris and Penny/Nigel from Devon - none of them seem to have got the hang of blogging - yet! Love AMIL and AFIL

Just been talking to Janet in Kent and she and Jim are thinking of you and send their love. They are calling on David and Lizzie this afternoon and will get Jess to log onto your blog so they can see what you've been up to! Get plenty of rest and let those Neutrophils do the work. Love M&D
